Advanced Elastomer Systems Santoprene® 271-80 Thermoplastic Rubber

Subcategory: Elastomer, TPE; Polymer; Thermoplastic

Material Notes:
A colorable thermoplastic specialty elastomer which complies with FDA regulations for rubber articles intended for repeated use as well as rubber articles in contact with non-fatty, non-oily foods as closures and sealing gaskets, formulated to replace thermoset elastomers like EPDM, polychloroprene, and chlorosulfonated polyethylene. It can be processed using injection molding, extrusion, blow molding or other melt processing techniques.

Key Features: UL Yellow card listed, UL94 HB Flame rating; Continuous temperature rating 1000 hrs @ 135°C; Excellent flex fatigue resistance; Excellent ozone resistance; May be used in contact with non-fatty goods as closure sealing gaskets in accordance with provisions of 21 CFR 177.1210 under the Federal Food, Drug, Cosmetic Act; Listed by National Sanitation Foundation under Standard #F-51 for aqueous, acetic, alcohol contact; Complies with 21 CFR 177.2600 "Rubber Articles Intended for Repeated Use"

Additional processing comments: This thermoplastic rubber is a shear-dependent material that can be processed on conventional thermoplastic equipment for injection molding, extrusion, or blow molding. For extrusion, a general purpose screw with a compression ratio of 2.5 to 3.0 is recommended. Material can be recycled. SANTOPRENE rubber is incompatible with acetal and PVC.

Values below are for injection molded plaques, side gated, 82.6 mm x 117.5 mm x 3.0 mm. Tensile properties measured across flow. Data provided by Advanced Elastomer Systems.
