Advanced Elastomer Systems Santoprene® 121-68 W228 Thermoplastic Rubber
Subcategory: Elastomer, TPE; Polymer; Thermoplastic
Material Notes: A black thermoplastic elastomer with good fluid resistance, formulated to replace foamed thermoset elastomers such as EPDM and polychloroprene. It can be processed using extrusion. Key Features: Continuous temperature rating 1000 hrs. @ 135°C (275°F); Excellent flex fatigue resistance; Excellent ozone resistance; Flexible to -60°C (-76°F). Load Deflection for 150 mm (6") sample is 390 g per ASTM D 1056, 25%, 50 mm/min. Additional processing comments: This thermoplastic rubber is a shear-dependent material that can be processed on conventional thermoplastic equipment for extrusion. For mechanical foaming, a 30:1 extruder is recommended. See patent 5,070,111 for more information. Material can be recycled. SANTOPRENE rubber is incompatible with acetal and PVC. Values below are for injection molded plaques, side gated, 82.6 mm x 117.5 mm x 3.0 mm. Tensile properties measured across flow. Data provided by Advanced Elastomer Systems.
