Zirconium Oxide Ceramic, Zirconia MgO Stabilized
Subcategory: Oxide, Zirconium; Oxide
Key Words: ZrO2
Material Notes: Data provided by the supplier, MarkeTech International. Zirconium oxide is widely used and has superior high temperature properties. When combined with yttria the strength and fracture toughness is significantly improved. This makes some grades of zirconia superior to most materials for abrasion and wear resistance. Parts can be machined before firing in the green state and after firing to meet exacting specifications. Zirconia is electrically conductive above 900°C. Zirconia can be tape cast into very thin sheets for fuel cells and engineered ceramics.
