Murlin Synthetic Bone Ash Mold Release
Subcategory: Ceramic
Material Notes: Description: Murlin Chemical Synthetic Bone Ash is a synthetic mold release agent for use in casting non-ferrous metals. It is a synthetic bone mineral produced from high purity inorganic chemicals and, therefore, contains no carbonaceous residue. It has been calcined in the temperature range 1250-1400°F (680-760°C) and finely ground. All drying and calcining operations are carried out in indirect fired driers and kilns to preclude the presence of absorbed combustion residues. Because of its high purity and fine particle size, it has been found by actual refinery experience to be an exceptionally efficient mold release agent in the casting of copper shapes, especially wirebars. Advantages: - Uniformity of Properties: Manufactured under carefully controlled conditions from the highest quality raw materials available. Therefore, once a refinery has established the best way to use the product under its own operating conditions, it is expected that the material will behave uniformly.
- Improved Availability: Manufactured from readily available raw materials. Production capacity is six tons per day and inventory storage is maintained near 100 tons. Therefore, orders are shipped the same day.
- Efficiency: Users of Synthetic Bone Ash have found that the quantity of mold dressing used can be reduced, up to about one half the amount necessary when using natural bone ash. They have also reported that the life of the molds is significantly longer, up to twice as long, when Synthetic Bone Ash is being used as the mold dressing.
- Decreased Rejection Rate: The improved appearance of the castings obtained when using Synthetic Bone Ash will result in a decrease in the rejection rate. Refineries using the product have found their castings look better because the surface is smoother. Very fine gauge copper wire still is being drawn from wire bars. Defects in the wire bars, which would cause no trouble when large diameter wire is being drawn, will cause serious problems when the wire is being drawn to a very small diameter.
