AISI 4047 Steel
Subcategory: Low Alloy Steel; AISI 4000 Series Steel; Medium Carbon Steel; Metal
Close Analogs: AISI 4047H
Key Words: alloy steels, UNS G40470, ASTM A322, ASTM A331, ASTM A519, SAE J404 SAE J412, SAE J770
Material Notes: Oil quenched. Forging temp.: 1230°C (2250°F) max. Annealing temp.: 790 - 845°C. Hardening temp.: 815 - 855°C. Tempered to desired hardness. Applications: Used for small parts in severe conditions or non-critical larger parts that take advantage of the higher strength-to-weight ratio of alloy steel. A typical application would be parts in the steering assembly of an automobile. Forms: billets, blooms, slabs, hot rolled bars, and cold finished bars.
