| Beryllium Copper Nickel 72C Copper Casting Alloy  Subcategory: Copper Alloy; Nonferrous Metal Material Notes: Alloy 72C is a modified version of beryllium cupro-nickel alloy 71C, its increased beryllium content providing improved castability. Its field of application is the plastic tooling industry. Alloy 72C generally is ceramic mold cast into tooling used for molding flame-retardant plastics containing bromine, bromine-boron, chlorinated paraffins and phosphates, and other halogens. Additionally, alloy 72C tooling is resistant to corrosion by the foaming agents used in structural plastics that generate ammonia at elevated temperatures, as well as to decompositional products of PVC that contain HCI. The good casability of 72C allows it to be cast into tooling of fine detail.
Solution treated (water quenched from 995°C) and aged 3 hours at 510°C.
