Subcategory: Zinc Alloy; Nonferrous Metal
Key Words: ASTM C41A; SAE 925; UNS Z35530 (ingot), UNS Z35531 (casting); QQ-Z-363; ASTM B240; ASTM B86, Mazak 5, Zamak 5, Zamac 5
Material Notes: The composition listed above is according to ASTM B86 specifications. Conflicting sources on composition. One source gives Mg content as 0.020 - 0.05% with a footnote saying the Mg content can be as low as 0.015% as long as the Pb, Cd, and Sn contents do not exceed 0.003, 0.003, and 0.001% respectively. The same source does not list Cu as a constituent of AC41A. Another source lists the Mg content as 0.030 - 0.080%. Aged indoors 10 years. Expansion during aging: 70 µm/m. Suggested Casting Temperature 395-425°C (745-795°F).
