Material Notes: A high strength, low alloy steel grade with excellent mechanical and fabricating properties. A656 is produced as a killed steel with fine grain practice, it is available in four strength levels. Normal uses are demanding structural applications where strength to weight ratios are maximized. Frequently used as a replacement for some quenched and tempered steel plate grades. Its formability allows replacement of multi-piece weldments with formed parts.Information provided by Bethlehem Steel Corporation
