Special Metals NILO™ Alloy K Controlled-Expansion Alloy
Subcategory: Superalloy; Iron Base
Key Words: UNS K94610; ASTM F 15; SAE AMS 7726-7728; DIN 17745; S.E.W. 385; Werkstoff Nr. 1.3981; AFNOR NF A54-301
Material Notes: Inflection point 450°C. A nickel-iron-cobalt controlled-expansion alloy containing 29% nickel. Its coefficient of expansion, which decreases with rising temperature to the inflection point, matches the expansion rate of borosilicate glasses and alumina ceramics. Used for glass-to-metal seals in applications requiring high reliability or resistance to thermal shock. Examples are high-power transmitting valves, transistor leads and headers, integrated-circuit lead frames, and photography flash bulbs. Standard product forms are round, tube, sheet, strip, and wire.
