Ametek Ultra 316L P/M Stainless Steel, Sintered from 6.22 g/cc Green Density
Subcategory: Stainless Steel; T 300 Series Stainless Steel; Metal
Key Words: Powder metallurgy
Material Notes: Iron content above calculated as balance. Ametek's patented Ultra Stainless Steels™ are produced by alloying the conventional austenitic compositions with a small amount of a copper-nickel-tin alloy. This results in a marked improvement in corrosion resistance, while other properties are comparable to the conventional counterparts. Mechanical property data below is from samples lubricated with 1% Acrawax C and pressed at 30 tsi. Green strength 500 ksi. Specimens were delubricated in air for 20 min. at 950°F (510°C), then sintered in dissociated ammonia for 30 min. at 2100°F (1149°C) and cooled in the water jacketed furnace cooling zone. Dimensional change from die size -0.28%. Information provided by Ametek Specialty Metal Products.
