Ametek has developed this and other engineering alloys for hardfacing - the process of spraying and fusing metal powder onto a workpiece or substrate to give it specific hardness, wear, or corrosion resistant properties. Ametek® powders are engineered to have the precise size, spherical shape, and low oxygen content required for optimal thermal spraying characteristics. PI600 is Ametek equivalent to Inconel 600. Inconel is an International Nickel Company, Inc. trademark.
