Sandvik 6EF Extra-fine Grain Cemented Carbide for Rotary Tools
Subcategory: Metal Matrix Composite; Carbide; Tungsten Alloy; Nonferrous Metal
Material Notes: SANDVIK extra-fine grain cemented carbide grades have been developed to meet the exacting demands placed on solid carbide tooling by modern technology. The range of SANDVIK extra-fine grain cemented carbide grades have a tungsten carbide grain size of 0.6 µm. This grain size is precisely controlled to produce a tool material with an excellent combination of strength and toughness. In addition, a special additive maximises corrosion resistance without loss of toughness. SANDVIK grade 6EF has been developed as a result of an extensive research programme aimed at optimising solid carbide tool performance in metal cutting applications. 6EF incorporates 6% cobalt (Co) and 94% tungsten carbide (WC). 6EF is recommended for solid carbide rotary tool applications in the ISO K05/K10 range. It has special advantages where high toughness, sharp edge profiles and exceptional wear resistance is required. Information provided by Sandvik
