Stoody® 6 Cobalt-Base Alloy
Subcategory: Superalloy; Nonferrous Metal; Cobalt Base
Key Words: MIL-C-15345G, Alloy 20, and MIL-C-24248; Deloro Stellite Inc.
Material Notes: Cobalt content above calculated as balance. Stoody® 6 is a cobalt-base alloy with high abrasion, corrosion, and elevated temperature wear resistance. Its wear resistance is in a class ordinarily associated with hard metals. Chief differences between Stoody 6 and Stoody 1 is a lower proporiton of tungsten and carbon. Abrasion resistance is somewhat decreaed, while impact strength is increased. This alloy is recommended for applications involving restance to room and high temperature abrasive action, galling in metal to metal wear, and a moderate degree of impact, thermal shock or stress loading. Typical uses of Stoody 6 are bearings, for pumps, saran extruder cylinder liners, pivot bearings, and forming dies. Stoody 6 with minor modifications can be manufactured to coform to Military Specification MIL-C-15345G, Alloy 20, and MIL-C-24248 (ships), Compostion I. Information provided by Deloro Stellite Inc.
