Swiss Steel International CorroPlast™ Plastic Mold Steel
Subcategory: Stainless Steel; Maraging Steel; Mold Steel; Metal
Close Analogs: Iron content calculated as remainder
Material Notes: To manufacture plastic parts, it is necessary to have steels with a high wear resistance, good polishability and etching ability, adequate corrosion resistance, and cost efficient machining properties. Employed for this purpose, as a function of the requirements are case hardening steels, quenched and tempered steels, corrosion-resistant steels, nitriding steels and maraging steels.Corroplast is a pre-hardened, free machining 400 Series martensitic stainless steel, specifically developed for improved plastic mold base tooling. Corroplast possesses excellent machinability, stability, ductility, weldability, and uniform hardness. It also offers good corrosion resistance against corrosive plastic demands (e.g. PVC) and humid operating conditions. Corroplast has, due to chemistry and heat treatment, the ability to lower mold production and maintenance costs. Applications Corroplast may be used as a holder material for: - Plastic extrusion
- Mold Bases
- Rubber molds
- Injection Molds
- Prototypes
