Swiss Steel International THYROPLAST® Ultra Plastic Mold Steel
Subcategory: Mold Steel; Metal
Close Analogs: Iron content calculated as remainder
Key Words: DIN 1.2312
Material Notes: To manufacture plastic parts, it is necessary to have steels with a high wear resistance, good polishability and etching ability, adequate corrosion resistance, and cost efficient machining properties. Employed for this purpose, as a function of the requirements are case hardening steels, quenched and tempered steels, corrosion-resistant steels, nitriding steels and maraging steels.Thyroplast Ultra is supplied pre-heat treated to 32 HRC (300HB). Its machinability is superior to regular 4140. Thyroplast Ultra has excellent hardenability which results in a hardness spread from surface to core within 30 Brinell for 12" thick material. Applications Holder material primarily for both plastic molds and die casting dies
