Latrobe LSS™ PGK Knife and Die Steel
Subcategory: Tool Steel; Air-Hardening Steel; High Carbon Steel; Alloy Steel; Metal
Close Analogs: Timken sold Latrobe in December 2006. They are now Latrobe Specialty Steels Co.
Material Notes: TLS PGK knife and die steel is a versatile medium-chromium, air-hardening tool steel that is characterized by a very good combination of toughness and wear resistance. It is available primarily in flat and sheet forms for cold work tooling applications which demand better toughness but comparable wear resistance compared to D2 cold work tool steel and M2 high speed steel. A similar grade which is available primarily in round product forms is Timken Latrobe Steel Lescowear. Typical applications for TLS PGK knife and die steel include industrial knives, shear knives, and dies for blanking, forming, and trimming.Information Provided by Timken Latrobe Steel.
