Latrobe LSS™ S1 Shock-Resisting Tool Steel (ASTM S1)
Subcategory: Tool Steel; Oil-Hardening Steel; Medium Carbon Steel; Alloy Steel; Metal
Close Analogs: Timken sold Latrobe in December 2006. They are now Latrobe Specialty Steels Co.
Material Notes: TLS S1 Shock-Resisting tool steel is a medium-carbon steel which combines moderate hardness with good impact toughness. It is a deep-hardening, oil-hardening steel designed for shock and impact loading applications. TLS S1 exhibits better resistance to abrasive wear than any of the other "S"-type shock-resisting steels. Typical applications include hand chisels, pneumatic tools, shear blades, mandrels, heavy duty punches, stamping dies, and machine parts.Information Provided by Timken Latrobe Steel.
