Universal Wire Works 316 Stainless Steel Electrode
Subcategory: Stainless Steel; T 300 Series Stainless Steel; Metal
Key Words: AWS E316-15,16
Material Notes: Iron content is calculated as remainder. Universal 316 electrodes are widely used in the fabrication of type 316 stainless steel as used in the manufacture of parts and equipment for the chemical and process industries. The weld metal matches the chemical analysis of 316 base metal and therefore provides excellent resistance to pitting caused by certain acids used in the manufacture of inks, rubber, rayon and other synthetic fabrics, bleaches, dye stuffs, photographic chemicals, and paper. The molybdenum content of this alloy is sufficient to provide creep resistance at elevated temperatures, making alloy 316 usable in certain high temperature applications. Information provided by Universal Wire Works for their line of welding wire and filler metal.
