Universal Wire Works ER316L Stainless Steel Bare Wire
Subcategory: Stainless Steel; Metal
Material Notes: Iron content is calculated as remainder. This alloy is the same as ER316, except that the carbon content has been restricted. Low (0.03% maximum) carbon in this filler metal reduces the possibility of intergranular chromium carbide precipitation thus increases the resistance to intergranular corrosion without the use of stabilizers such as columbium or titanium. ER316L is primarily used for welding low carbon molybdenum bearing austenitic stainless steels. The low carbon 316L is not as strong at elevated temperatures as the stabilized alloys or ER316H. Information provided by Universal Wire Works for their line of welding wire and filler metal.
