Butyl Rubber (IIR, CIIR, BIIR)
Subcategory: Elastomer, TS; Thermoset
Material Notes: Butyl rubber is a copolymer of isoprene (minor) and isobutylene. Chlorobutyl (CIIR) and Bromobutyl (BIIR) contains 1.2% of the halogen. The halogen addition changes the cure characteristics and can improve adhesion.
