Cytec Thornel® Graphite Cloth, Laminate Properties with Mil R-9299 Resin
Subcategory: Thermoset; Carbon Fiber/Thermoset Composite
Close Analogs: Thornel® products were sold by Amoco and are now owned by Cytec.
Key Words: Carbon Fiber; Carbon Fibre; composites; BP Amoco Performance
Material Notes: Data provided by the manufacturer, Amoco Performance Products, Inc. Carbon and graphite cloths, consisting entirely of flexible filaments, are produced by pyrolysis of rayon cloth at high temperatures to yield products with a high degree of purity. The cloth flexibility results from the very small filament diameter. These are fair conductors of electricity. At room temperature the volume resistivity of graphite cloth is about 40 times that of "Nichrome" wire. Graphite cloth resistance decreases with temperature, reaching half of the room temperature value at 1315°C. Cloth carbon assay is 99.9%. Filament diameter is 8.9 µm.
