Borealis Visico™ LE4481/LE4437 Moisture-Crosslinking Polyethylene Compound for Flexible Low Voltage Insulation
Subcategory: Polyethylene; Ethylene Butyl Acrylate; Thermoplastic; LDPE
Material Notes: Visico LE4481/LE4437 is a natural, low-density ethylene vinyl silane/ ethylene butyl acrylate terapolymer that is designed for flexible low voltage wire insulation and jacketing. The combination of a Visico base material, LE4481, and a tine catalyst masterbatch, LE4437, provides a patented scorch retardant additive (SRA) that increases the processing window for a moisture crosslinking compound and minimizes the tendency for premature crosslinking in the extruder, head or die. LE4437 should be added to LE4481 directly in the extruder hopper by dry blending at a ratio of 5 parts LE4437 to 95 parts LE4481. LE4437 also provides, in addition to catalyst, a stabilization package containing suitable antioxidant, a metal passivator and a metal deactivator. Properly mixed, during the extrusion process, LE4481/LE4437 exhibits excellent thermal stability to oxidation. LE4481/LE4437 is recommended for use as insulation for low voltage control cables and power cables up to 6 kV in rating that require excellent ambient and low temperature flexibility.
