Some characteristics that have made it attractive to medical device manufacturers include low coefficient of friction, low extractables, dimensional stability, gamma sterilizable, chemical inertness, and biodurability. In addition, they are coupled with easy thermoplastic processibility. Hardnesses from 80 Shore A to 75 Shore D are available; property data below is typical for 80A.
