DuPont Teijin Films Mylar® OB01 Polyester Packaging Film, 50 Gauge
Subcategory: Polyester, TP; Thermoplastic; Polymer
Key Words: DuPont Packaging Polymers
Material Notes: Data provided by DuPont Packaging Polymers. Mylar® OB01 (formerly known as XM924) is a biaxially oriented polyester (OPET) film with an amorphous polyester heat seal layer and a polyvinylidene chloride (PVDC) layer on the opposite side of the film from the seal layer. Mylar® OB01 is essentially Mylar® OL with a barrier layer. It is used as a heat sealable lidding film in packaging frozen and refrigerated foods. Mylar® OB01 is commercially available in nominal 50 (14µm) and 100 (25µm) gauges. Mylar® OB01 is dual ovenable film which provides good, generally peelable seals to polar substrates such as amorphous polyester (APET, also PETG), semicrystalline polyester (CPET), polyester coated paperboard, and polyvinylchloride (PVC). Mylar® OB01 does not seal to polyethylene, polypropylene, or polystyrene. DuPont Teijin Films offers another family of lidding films (RB types) for sealing to these substrates.
