DuPont Appeel® LSR 11D569 Modified EVA Lidding Sealing Resin
Subcategory: Ethylene Vinyl Acetate; Thermoplastic
Close Analogs: This grade is no longer in the DuPont product line
Key Words: Ethylene Vinyl Acetate; DuPont Packaging Polymers
Material Notes: Appeel® 11D569 is a modified ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer resin designed to be used as a sealing layer for lidding applications. It provides peelable seals to a variety of surfaces including polypropylene, polystyrene, and polystyrene foam and is available in pellet form for use in conventional extrusion or coextrusion equipment designed to process polyethylene resins. General Processing Information: The melt temperature of Appeel® 11D569 should be maintained in the 175-238°C (350-460°F) range. Selection of a specific melt temperature will depend on screw configuration, potential power limitations, and the need to match melt viscosities. However, melt temperatures above 238°C (460°F) should be avoided because of possible thermal degradation of the resin. If the process is stopped for short periods of time, the Appeel® resin extruder should be kept turning at low rpm. For a permanent shutdown, the Appeel® resin should be purged using an available polyethylene resin run at the same extrusion temperature used for the Appeel® resin. Making frequent changes in screw speed during shutdown and subsequent start-up will help remove the previous material from the machine more effectively.
