| DuPont Elastomers VTR 8500 Peroxide Cured Fluoroelastomer (FKM) Formulation  Subcategory: Fluoropolymer, TS; Elastomer, TS; Thermoset Close Analogs: This former DuPont Dow Elastomers product line is now produced by DuPont Performance Elastomers. Material Notes:
 Formulation| Viton® GLT | 100 | | Zinc Oxide | 3 | | N990 Carbon Black | 30 | | Diak™ 7 | 3 | | Luperox® 101-XL | 3 | Description: Viton® VTR-8500 is a new, developmental peroxide cured polymer intended to be an upgrade to Viton® GLT. VTR-8500 utilizes a revolutionary new Advanced Polymer Architecture technology which includes a new peroxide cure site along with an optimized molecular weight distribution designed to deliver a polymer which:
Cures exceptionally fast to a high state of cureShows improved mold release/mold fouling properties compared to GLT and GLT 305Shows improved mold flow, less shear sensitivity, and lower extruder die swell for a ~65 Mooney FKMShows excellent physical properties with high elongation in either the original or aging testsShows similar to improved heat, fluids, and low temperature resistance compared to GLTShows excellent compression set resistance with little (2 hr at 232°C ) or no postcure
It is recommended if mixing in an internal mixer to use at least a 70% load factor. The recommended process aid for VTR-8500 is 0.5 phr of Armeen® 18D. Information provided by manufacturer.
