Material Notes:

1906 consists of calcium carbonate dispersed in a polyolefin resin. The calcium carbonate has been carefully selected with respect to particle size, surface coating, moisture content, dispersability and acceptability for food contact applications. The masterbatch is an off-white color and is supplied as free flowing, dust free, underwater cut pellets compatible with color masterbatches in applications where the finished article must be colored. In film applications 1906 will increase opacity and reduce gloss. At high concentrations, it will produce a plastic film capable of being written upon with a pencil. It confers antiblock properties to films. Used at one to three percent, 1906 will produce matt surface tapes for carpet backing, sacks, etc., reducing the need for mechanical abrasive delustering. This gives improved strength since surface mechanical damage is avoided and avoids the need for further heat stabilization stage after delustering. Problems with dust formation are also minimized. Additionally, the tendency of tapes to fibrillate by splitting alone their length during weaving or under mechanical stress is reduced, giving improved fabric quality.
