Material Notes: Description: (Preliminary Data Sheet) VESTODUR CL2230 is a 30 % glass fiber-reinforced, self-extinguishing compound for injection molding, based on modified polybutylene terephthalate (PBT).Moldings of VESTODUR CL2230 can be crosslinked by high-energy radiation (ß- or ?-radiation). The influence of the radiation to the mechanical properties is negligible. The short-term heat resistance is increased up to 400°C depending on the conditions. Crosslinked parts of VESTODUR CL2230 can be used in common soldering processes like surge soldering, gas phase soldering or IR soldering which are typical in the electronic industry. The incorporated flame retardant is non-migrating and has no corrosive effects on metal inserts or neighboring metal parts. Laser marking with high contrast is possible. The compound contains a special additive that can be activated by a LPKF laser system*. The laser-activated areas can be plated selectively. Information provided by degussa.
