Kydex® IM90 Acrylic/PVC injection Molding Compound
Subcategory: Vinyl; Acrylic; Thermoplastic
Key Words: Polyvinylchloride; PMMA; Polymethylmethacrylate
Material Notes: Low heat release aviation grade Applications: Kydex IM90 is designed for injection molded parts each need to meet the highest flammability requirements of the FAA (FAR 25.853d) for vertical burn, rate of heat release, and smoke generation. Features: Kydex IM90 is available in many standard and custom colors enabling you to satisfy both the functional and aesthetic requirements of any aircraft interior. Kydex IM90 is very resistant to a wide range of concentrated chemicals, and is therefore easy to clean with aggressive cleaners. Ammoniated cleaners should be avoided since they can leave a residue. Most importantly, Kydex IM90 meets the stringent requirements for the FAR 25.853 paragraph (d) in all thicknesses and colors. Radiant Panel: 2.41 as per ASTM E162 Processing: Drying is not typically required, however, if drying is needed dry at 55° for 4 hours. Barrel temperatures are typically 157 and196°C. Mold temperature should be between 32 and 60°C. Minimize the residence time in the barrel and keep melt temperatures between 196 and 207°C. To achieve a homogeneous melt, keep sufficient back pressure .7-2.8 N/mm^2. Before shutdown purge thoroughly and neutralize the mold.
