Kydex® P45 CPVC Thermoplastic Extrusion Compound
Subcategory: Vinyl; Thermoplastic
Key Words: Chlorinated Polyvinylchloride
Material Notes: CPVC compound for profile extrusion Applications: This compound is designed for profile extrusion where high heat resistance, good impact and chemical resistance are desired. Features: Kydex P45 is available in both powder form for twin-screw extruders and pelletized for single-screw and/or twin screw extruders. It is available in natural for coloring at the extruder and pre-colored for ease of handling. It is very resistant to a range of concentrated chemicals and cleaners. It's HDT, which is one measure of the material's maximum service temperature is 90.6°C at 1.8 N/mm^2 after annealing. In-use temperatures should not exceed this range of temperature. The affect of temperature on a material is highly dependent on part size, internal stresses, and loadings. Processing: This compound should be processed using rigid PVC extrusion equipment under standard CPVC operating conditions. The screw should be chrome plated. Screw tip cooling is not recommended. A dummy weaker plate should be used (do not use a breaker plate or screen pack). Melt temperature over 204°C should be avoided. CPVC is somewhat hygroscopic so this material may have to be dried if it is very old or is stored in humid conditions. Data provided by the Kleerdex Company.
