It will provide superior stability in high temperature heat-set hot-fill applications like food jars and in pasteurized applications like beer bottles. 2202 will also protect the contained product from UV light. Packaging made from this resin has excellent clarity and is noted for its dimensional stability, which prevents shrinkage and expansion of the container, even after the post-fill heat treatment. The resin may be used to package nutraceutical beverages as well as juices, teas, foods, and malt beverages. This resin complies with the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act for certain food contact applications. Containers made from PET are lightweight, have excellent clarity, and are shatterproof. With the important advantage of being totally recyclable, PET is becoming the packaging resin of choice. Information from manufacturer data sheet.
