Luvocom® 1/CF/30 Carbon Fiber Filled Nylon 66
Subcategory: Nylon; Thermoplastic; Nylon 66; Polymer
Material Notes: Description: Components which are subjected to severe dynamic forces need to have a low specific weight coupled with high mechanical strength and stiffness. Luvocom® high-performance materials provide exactly these qualities. Further benefits of this group of products are: a low coefficient of linear thermal expansion, greater thermal conductivity and excellent dimensional stability. A tensile strength of > 250 MPa is possible using Luvocom®, at a tensile modulus of > 30,000 MPa. Carbon fiber reinforced polymers are used in rapidly moving parts in machines and apparatuses, such as thread guides, pump slide valves, gear teeth, cams and connecting rods. Carbon fiber reinforced materials have also proved to be a viable alternative to aluminum for the manufacture of casings. Processing: Luvocom can generally be processed on commercial injection molding machines, provided that the injection unit has been well designed and common technical rules have been obeyed. Barrels and plasticizing screws should be protected against wear as usual for processing reinforced thermoplastic compounds. Added fibers and fillers could act abrasive. It is urgently advised to pre-dry the pellets with an appropriate dryer just before processing. Information provided by Lehmann & Voss.
