| Montell Polybutene-1 DP 8910 PC  Subcategory: Polybutene; Thermoplastic Close Analogs: Basell is the successor company to Montell. Material Notes:
Key Features: semi-crystalline high ethylene content random copolymer, miscible with polypropylene
Applications: additive for formation of hot melt adhesives, sealant compounds Description: Polybutene-1 DP 8910 PC is a development product. It is a semi-crystalline high ethylene content random which is miscilbe with polypropylenes due to its similar molecular structure. In belends with polyethylenes it is immiscible but easily dispersible. It is mainly used as an additive for formulation of hot melt adhesives and sealant comounds where high SAFT, high strength and longer open times are required. This grade is compatible with a wide variety of non-polar resins and waxes. This copolymer contains free organic peroxide to allow the reduction of melt viscostiy in elevate temperature processing. The rate of further peroxide cracking is dependent on the time and temperature of processing. To achieve 100% utilisation of the residual peroxide, a temperature of 180 C or higher should be applied for 30 minutes or longer when processed alone or in combination with other components in a formulation. The product should be kept in a closed container to minimize the loss of the organic peroxide required for acheiving viscosity at 350 C. Information provided by Montell Polyolefins.
