Nanosonic Metal Rubber™
Subcategory: Metal
Material Notes: Metal Rubber™ is a unique self-assembled nanocomposite material that combines the high electrical conductivity of metals with the low mechanical modulus of elastomers. Self-assembly processing allows the simultaneous modification of both conductivity and modulus during manufacturing. Metal Rubber™ has a wide range of possible applications, from mechanically flexible electrical interconnections and electromagnetic shielding to the measurement of large mechanical deformations. Material maintains its shape and remains electrically conductive, even after millions of cycles at nominal strain. Even after large cyclic strains up to 200 %, material resists wrinkling and failing from deformation. Information provided by Nanosonic, Inc.
